Propeller shells scientific name Thisidos Tortuosa. These are bivalves, having a bottom and matching top shell. Prppeller shells are benthic filter feeders, living on or in the seafloor and gathering nutrition by filtering small particles, like plankton and detritus.
Propeller shells are often found half buried in soft sediment on the seafloor. They can be found in seagrass meadows. This environment provides food and shelter. They are also drawn to mudflats and sand flats burrowing into the soft sediment.
